Vision Version 1 — March 2022
The inception of ens.vision was a response to a clear need in the Web3 community. We recognized early on that the future of ENS would require a bridge to accessibility and ease of use. Our platform started as this bridge, offering a bulk search tool that brought simplicity and efficiency to the forefront of ENS interactions.
As months passed, we witnessed an overwhelming response from our community.
It wasn’t just about making searches easier anymore, it was about creating a space where ENS names could flourish, where transactions could be made securely, and where the community could engage meaningfully in trading, buying, listing and renewing and also managing their ENS names. This realization was the cornerstone for the evolution of ens.vision into vision.io, our now comprehensive marketplace that serves as a cornerstone of the Web3 naming ecosystem.
Personal Reflections
ENS represents more than just a “simplification of blockchain addresses” - it’s a testament to the evolution of the internet itself. The move towards Web3 is not just a technological shift but a cultural one, redefining how we understand ownership, privacy, and community, as well as our digital representation and the connection to our very personal “Web3 identity”. My journey through the development of vision.io has been deeply intertwined with these concepts, challenging and reshaping my understanding of what blockchain can and should be.
In the past two years, we’ve seen incredible advancements and adoption, but also the hurdles of scalability, usability, and public perception. These challenges have only strengthened vision.io to push forward, but to innovate, and contribute to a more accessible and decentralized web3 identity.
With our rebranding from ENS.vision to vision.io, we haven’t left ENS behind, ENS will always remain our number one, I call it “the BTC of web3 naming services”. However, we’ve expanded our vision galaxy for a broader, wider Web3 experience, not focused on our personalized preference, a move also inspired by our community’s feedback and the option to choose your own “vision” of a Web3 identity.
The Road Ahead
Looking back on these two years, I’m filled with gratitude for the community that has supported us, the team that has worked tirelessly to bring our vision to life, and the countless individuals who have used vision.io to step into the Web3 world. Our journey from a simple ENS bulk search tool to a complete marketplace for Web3 names is a statute and a great example of the power of innovation, community, and the unwavering belief in a decentralized future, and tireless effort and work by our vision team.
As we celebrate our second anniversary, I’m reminded that this is just the beginning. The road ahead is long and uncertain, but it’s paved with opportunities and we are committed to continue giving our very best.
Here’s to two years of vision.io!
